I didn't want to wait for the short barreled rifle (SBR) stamp, so I bought the MCX Rattler pistol configuration. Still, the Rattler looks very clean. It is compact and can easily be stored in a backpack or under a car seat. Personally, I find myself keeping it next to my bed because the short barrel length (5 inches) makes it perfect for maneuvering around narrow hallways and doorways around the house. It comes with M-LOK grips and stabilizing brackets that are frankly rubbish. Unstable and flattering. I can't stand it. Other than that, all non-functioning parts of this AR pistol are solid.

I don't like 9 pound trigger pulls on rifles or AR pistols or basically any firearm. This makes it very difficult to shoot accurately at long distances. This is one of the issues that really hold this rifle back. It must be changed to be durable.
However, if you look at the past, the accuracy is actually pretty good. I threw a small red dot sight, but I was actually trying to engage at 50 yards, and the group was solid with a 3-inch group when shooting randomly. After that I was able to maintain 3 MOA while sitting and focusing. I didn't use any low-power variable optics (LPVOs) or any zoom optics, and frankly, if what I'm about to say seems off, I usually don't.
Other than that, I don't know what more you could ask for. It has ergonomic controls and ultra-quiet operation with silent ammo and suppressor. Plus, this gun was originally designed for military and special operations, so it's sure to scratch the itch. While we can find a practical use for it, there are some options that don't look that great, but are quite cheap.
I wouldn't say I'll ever buy this, but I'm sure you won't be disappointed when you pull the trigger on this one.

I have a few of these guns on my list, but when I saw SIG Sauer's new MCX Rattler, it felt like something new to the market, and it intrigued me. Confirmed at last year's SHOT Show and NRA Annual General Meeting. I always thought it was a useful system, so I was interested in reshoots. Thankfully, I was able to find one and buy one, so I did! Think how I feel about it after a year.
First of all, the gun packs a big punch in a very small package. The overall length from the muzzle to the end of the muzzle is about 16 inches. 300 Tanning with a 5.5 inch barrel. The weapon weighs a little more than 5 kilograms without optics. It's a solid little gun built like a tank, but the weight isn't bad. I love how SIG always puts QD mounting points on all their rifles and pistols. The assembly made the single point sling very easy to put on and operate. I mounted the gun in an Anvl Ukon mount with a Trijicon RMR.
The Anvl Ukon mount has an iron sight system built into the mount, so you don't need a spare iron on your gun. At first I thought the concept was weird, but when I started using it with my PDW system, I honestly don't think there is a better option on the market today. I was initially interested in this optic setup because many Special Forces teams around the world use MCX Rattlers with Trijicon RMRs in their turret mounts. It's easy to see why they went with this setup. I threw the Surefire M300 Mini Scout Weapon Light in a Phase 5 single-point sling and found it fine.

So far I have run about 3700 rounds through the MCX Rattler and it is 100% reliable. I get an average of 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards. That's not very impressive until you consider that it only has a 5.5-inch barrel. The gun is an absolute blast to shoot and recoil is very manageable. It's easy to hold the target while drilling or passing fire. I was amazed that I could. Despite being a very small package, you won't be hit by explosions or giant fireballs in your mouth. My gun comes with a SIG 3-pin flash hider that minimizes muzzle blast.
However, there is some getting used to when it comes to the MCX Rattler. First, I'm not a big fan of the little charging handles on the guns. I fully understand that this is a PDW gun, so everything is designed to be as streamlined and discreet as possible. The charging case is very compact and perfect for popping out of a concealed carry bag. gun.I changed magazines a few times at the range and by the end of the day my knuckles were sore but no bottom problem.
