mcx rattler 556

Mcx Rattler 556 - You all probably understand when I say I have a list of guns I want to make one day, but it always follows "if I win the lottery". I have some of these guns on my list, but when I saw the new MCX Rattler from SIG Sauer, I felt it was cool on the market and it was really exciting for me. I checked it out at the SHOT Show and NRA annual meeting last year. I always thought it was a useful system and again I was interested in shooting it. Luckily I found one and had a chance to buy it, so I did! Let’s get into what I think about it a year later.

First, the gun packs a cannon, a small pack. The total length is about 16 inches from the muzzle to the end of the bracket. It is also housed in a 300 Blackout tank with a 5.5-inch tank. The gun weighs more than 5 pounds without optics. It's a sturdy pistol built like a water tank, but it doesn't weigh badly at all. I like how the SIG always includes QD mounting points in all guns and pistols. This watch makes it easy to put a strap on and run with it. I mounted my gun with the Trijicon RMR on Mount Anvl Ukon.

Mount Envl Ukon has a metal sight system built right in the mount so there is no need to reserve a gun. I thought the first idea was weird, but when I started using it on PDW systems honestly I thought there was no better option on the market right now. Initially, I was interested in this optical installation because there are many special forces teams around the world using MCX Rattler and Trijicon RMR on Ukon mount. It's easy to see why they go with this arrangement! I fired the Surefire M300 Mini Scout with a 5th stage wire and called it good.

So far, I have put about 3,700 rounds into the MCX Rattler and it is 100% reliable. I average 1.5's at 100 yards. It doesn't sound very impressive unless you consider the fact that it only has a 5.5-inch barrel. Yes, I'm amazed at how easy it is to aim at targets during training or shelling, and even if it is a small package, the gun does not hit you with explosives or large shells. SIG times and it works very well.

But there are a few things to keep in mind when talking about the MCX Rattler. The first thing I do is not a big fan of the short sleeves loaded on the gun. I fully understand that it is a PDW weapon, so everything is streamlined and made as low as possible. The charging handle is very small, which is great for pulling out a hidden bag. The disadvantage is that it is very difficult to use when loading the gun. I changed the mags a few times in a row and at the end of the day my wrists were raw but it was not breaking the deal.

I took the Geissele Super X storage handle for Rattler which solves the problem. The only thing I changed on the gun was the folding pistol strap. Adjustable brackets, which is a plus, but I like the side folding brackets that are easy to deploy. The foldable stock is really well built, but to deploy it quickly you need two arms. Side folding brackets use one hand to deploy quickly. This is my personal preference, but again, it's a small issue on other great weapons. Both of these issues can be easily fixed with the storage handle and SB Tactical Side Folding brace.

When I first took the MCX Rattler, I was really worried that it would not live up to my high expectations. After having the owner and transporting it, I was happy to meet if not more than expected. The gun just works and has a lot of firepower in a small package. I like the fact that I can throw it in a single strap bag and pick up the Rattler without a problem or it looks bulky.

I will probably buy a new Vertx backpack for Rattler and write down what I think about it. I plan to travel in six months so he will travel with me. I was planning to update you with my experience with Rattler, but after 1 year it was really great. As always, if you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to email me.
